George Lagorio

Lagorio was
All-ACAL in football in 1945 & 1946 and excelled on the baseball diamond
for the Hornets as well. He played football at Santa Rosa Junior College in
1947 and played football for one season at St. Mary’s College of California in
1948. After playing minor league baseball in 1949, he returned to the gridiron
and played for the Petaluma Leghorns in 1949 & 1950 and helped them win the
1949 “Egg Bowl” for the California State Semi-Pro Football Championship.
While in the
service in 1951 & 1952, Lagorio played football for the Fort Ord Warriors.
He helped the Warriors win the 1951 “Lettuce Bowl” and also won the Army’s
“Player of the Year” award in 1952. In
1953, Lagorio went to training camp with the Los Angeles Rams. He was released
by the Rams and also had a tryout with the Chicago Cardinals that same year but
failed to make the squad. He wrapped up his career by playing with the Petaluma
Leghorns during the 1953 season.
