Calandri Receives Co-Player of the Year and All-Independent Honors

KANSAS CITY, MO (3/10/09) -- Kayleigh Calandri, a senior guard from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and Erica Davis, a senior forward from the University of Maine, Presque Isle, were named the co-players of the year as the All-Independent WomenÕs Basketball teams were announced today by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I).  

Calandri, a native of Alameda, Calif., averaged 17.2 points per game (second in the AD3I) and scored more points (464) than any other player in the 17-member association of independent schools.  She canned 47 percent of her three-point attempts (66-of-142), which was the third highest mark in Division III.  She also had impressive games where she hit nine three-point shots (ranked fourth) and tied for 12th for most points in a game with 38.  She finished her career with 10 school records, including the career scoring mark (1,496 points).
