Trini Sanchez was a standout player for the Cal State Hayward women’s softball team for three years (1985-87). In her freshman season, Sanchez was named Northern California Athletic Conference Player of the Year, leading the NCAC in hitting with a .508 batting average. That season she helped the Pioneer women’s softball team capture its first ever Nor Cal Athletic Conference championship with a 19-1 record. She ranks third all-time in runs scored (110), fifth all-time in hits (170), seventh all-time in triples (10), and eighth all-time in batting average (.377). She was inducted into the Cal State Hayward Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002.
